David, you touched so many people in such a short time
You forever live in our hearts & memories.

I think the saddest thing in life is to be forgotten. This site is to honor my brothers life and spirit! It is easy to say so much about someone who was so much to me and many others!! - Life is simply not the same without you Bro -CarolAnn

*Biography

Remember me my friends and dear family;
For have only slipped into the next room,
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All will be well.

David Charles Mandrack was so many wonderful things. *REMEMBER HIM* Look at his photos above and below and remember his life! His goodness! He was a United States Marine, an awesome brother, a fine son, a good friend to those who knew him, and a fabulous Cook. Dave's love for his son could never be questioned!
David Mandrack grew up in Conshohocken Pennsylvania. A few years after graduating high School David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Core 1993-1997.  He took advantage of schooling through the Military and went on to attend Culinary classes. After his service in the Marines David settled in the San Diego California area. He worked for Healthy Heart, and shortly after opened his own Deli
"DRACK'S PHILLY SHACK;" There he specialized in Philly cheese steaks and offered other marvelous dishes on a menu he'd create himself!   He was most proud of that place and so are we! David loved to cook. Even as a boy he would whip up dishes he made up himself and would cook for me when our Mom worked late. He was so creative with food too. He won many culinary awards throughout his career. In 2002 we took a cruise with our Mom. They had a contest and David took first place with his creation.
David was passionate about life. He had a zest for life! He was enthusiastic and loved to have fun!!!!! If you knew him, you know this. He would get excited just like a kid about the simplest things. His eyes would glitter with curiosity and delight.  I felt David believed that tomorrow will surely be better than yesterday, and today is pretty interesting.
David embraced history, appreciated nature, the arts, decorating, crafts and he loved to have fun! David had so many dreams, aspirations, and the most brilliant ideas too. He was such a loveable, likable, intelligent idealist. He was also a great friend to those who knew him. To strangers as well. David loved discovering new adventures!! He loved all that life had to offer.
David was smart and he had a kind heart. He was creative & unique. He liked to travel and listen to music. His music taste was diverse and he enjoyed many artists. Like any good Italian he enjoyed Frank Sinatra's music. He knew every song and would proudly sing ya tone. He also absolutely loved sports & the outdoors; But most importantly, the last 4 years David's life was his son Dominic. David enjoyed taking his son to the San Diego Zoo, to the local library & reading to his son, to plays & out-door children's productions, movies, The Disney store, the park. He lived and breathed for Dominic. There are NO words that can come close to expressing the love he held for his son Dominic. They had spectacular escapades together and David introduced him to nature, learning and all sorts of activities. His son was his world* David would call all the time and put Dominic on the phone. "David was 10 fathers to his son," as David's Dad Charles says.
David loved the ladies. He was most definitely a ladies man, that's for sure. He was a very charming, handsome fellow. He simply had a lure about him. He drew you in and left you wanting more. He was warm and wonderful. He had a way of making you feel on top of the world. Truly devoting himself to you. We all loved him so much!!! His smile would brighten up any room! He was cool too. You wanted to be around him as he exuded fun and laughter! Sure, some might say after a few beers he could be very strong willed -LOL- a bit of a knuckle head - but at the end of the day you couldn't ask for a better friend or a better time! Dave did not give a crap about what people thought about him. Ironically, everyone thought he was just great.
David traveled and enjoyed life. He went places I could only dream of. He did things & he went where he wanted.  While in the U. S. M C . he spent some time in Okinawa Japan in the mid 1990's, where he was very active in body building & health. There he had  won several awards, including 2nd place in a major body building competition* -
As a child, David excelled in sports...baseball, basketball, and football. As an adult, he loved it all, especially baseball and going to games like the Padres with his friend Dina (who worked with him at his Deli in California.) David had tons of friends growing-up. He was popular in school and through-out life.  He made friends easily because he was so kind hearted, good natured, inviting, and fun. When we were little he'd pal around with neighborhood kids, make cool forts, hang out with the local gang at the "Stillman's Shed." He made  the greatest concoctions in his bed room; If my sister Christina or I were to sneak in his room, there was a string attached to the door knob handle, attached to a bucket of water placed onto of door...BAM! We were busted (and wet!) He'd come up with these great inventions & make the coolest things from reading Highlights magazine, or perhaps one to many episodes of MacGyver. lol. As a child he enjoyed watching shows like Mr. T and the A Team, & Mash. We each had a night to our own to watch what we wanted. On his nights it was Mash, the A Team, Welcome Back Carter or Rambo. I know CLIFFORD the big red dog, & Danny the Dinosaur were just a few of his favorite childhood story books. He loved to draw as a child and went through a "Garfield" phase that I remember fondly. He was pretty good too. To me, my brother was my hero. Big and strong. My playmate, friend---someone I looked up to admired. Someone I loved deeply.
"I love sports and I love to cook", David said in 2007. He also enjoyed history and a love for learning. Learning about our country's history and the world. David stopped to smell the roses and cherished life, love, family, and friends. He was constantly bettering himself and being the best father he could!
David was very active in his community's library, "The San Diego County Library". He took his son there
weekly.  He never stopped educating himself!
Dave shared in a love for Notre Dame that his father, Charles Mandrack instilled in him from birth!! ;-)  David is survived by his Father Charles Mandrack, Mother Naomi Sirchie,  Step-Father Frank Sirchie, & sisters Christine and Carol-Ann. David has dozens and dozens of cousins who also share in our loss, along with many Aunts and  Uncles. In addition, Kim Gill  (David's Girlfriend) and their son Dominic and all of Kim's family in California. David also had a lot of good friends while residing in California. To touch on them all would take an infinity,  however, I'd like to mention his friend Pat and Pat's family. They have known David since he moved to California in 1997. Over the past ten years Pat has always been there as a friend to David...extending a helping hand when needed. I'd also like to mention John Derfler - He and David had been friends since they were in school as boys and kept in touch through-out life.
David's biggest joy in life was his son Dominic. David was so proud of him. In David's own words, "LIVING IN SD I HAVE A PERFECT SON BORN 8/18/03. I LOVE MY SON, MY BUSINESS SPORTS, COOKING,  MY GIRL KIM and  FUN".
David was so very happy, looking forward to the future with his son, a new job, a new apartment... his last words to me where asking me to locate a book for his son. A book that his son could use his own imagination to create the story * a visual book...and telling me "I love you." I miss David greatly. I thought he was the coolest cat around. I have been fascinated and in awe of him from my first memories of life. He was an extraordinary person and the most amazing big brother a gal could have.  He always remained optimistic through all of life's obstacles. He looked beyond the external appearance of people for a truer, more intrinsic value. He was my friend, my brother, and my hero.  He was everything good and wonderful in my life. He is the most admirable person I have known; he is an inspiration to us all to live life. All of my family will mourn David's loss, and all the friends he had from Philadelphia to VA, NC, SC, HI, CA, JAPAN and back! - His good nature and kind heart. His love of fun and life! I ask that you look at his pictures below and remember him, pray for him, never forget him!!! He touched so many all over the world! He made friends and impacted those who knew him along his path in life.
His love for his son,
Family, and friends is endless. Speak well of our David and never forget our beloved Son, Father, Brother and Friend*
If love could have saved you,
you would have lived forever -CarolAnn

Remember always, my beloved son. Naom

"Once a Marine, Always a Marine"

  • The motto of the Marine Corps League.
  • Having earned the title of Marine it becomes a integral part of who and what we will become later in life.
  • It is a commitment that Marines share to our country, to our Corps, and to each other.
  • This is why there are no ex-Marines, only former Marines.
